Kelsey Dunn, MEd

Kelsey Dunn is a license eligible therapist who is passionate about creating a safe and validating space where clients can explore their authentic selves and work to implement effective changes in their lives. Originally from Johns Creek, Georgia, Kelsey is currently awaiting her full licensure as an APC.

Kelsey earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Ball State University and her Master of Education in Professional Counseling from The University of Georgia. During her graduate studies, she gained experience at the University of Georgia's Center for Counseling and Personal Evaluation, working with young adults and adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, body-image challenges, and interpersonal difficulties. She also provided individual counseling to incarcerated individuals at the Oconee County Jail, addressing complex mental health needs. Before graduate school, Kelsey was a Care Coordinator/Life Skills Instructor at Aspire Indiana Health, supporting adults with serious mental illness transitioning back into the community.

Kelsey's therapeutic approach emphasizes the importance of the therapist-client relationship and believes that this serves as an integral part of the foundation for change. She balances compassionate understanding with practical problem-solving, helping clients build skills to navigate life's challenges more effectively and create a life they find meaningful. With a background that includes social work principles, Kelsey is keen to explore and address systemic challenges and societal expectations that may hinder clients. She also enjoys incorporating creativity, like music, into sessions to aid in mindfulness practice and emotional regulation. Kelsey has received training in DBT Skills Training and Trauma Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Kelsey is particularly interested in:

  • Identity exploration, self-esteem, and self-discovery

  • Young women's and teen girls' mental health

  • Body image distress

  • Emotional sensitivity and challenges with emotion regulation and coping

  • Relationship and career challenges

  • Children with externalizing behavior challenges

Kelsey is dedicated to advocating for body acceptance and neutrality, actively challenging diet culture. Outside of work, she finds joy in Pilates, weightlifting, music (both listening and playing), trying her hand at very beginner pickleball, exploring Atlanta's sushi restaurants, and enjoying cat memes and anti-diet content on Instagram.

Kelsey is under the supervision of Dr. Kimberly Vay.
