BPD is a disorder of dysregulation. Individuals with BPD generally exhibit emotion dysregulation (e.g., extreme or rapid fluctuations of mood with intense or inappropriate anger), behavioral dysregulation (e.g., impulsive behaviors in areas of spending, decision making, sex, self-injury, or suicide attempts), interpersonal dysregulation (e.g., chaotic or absent relationships), intrapersonal dysregulation (e.g., difficulty knowing who they are and confusion over values and priorities), and cognitive dysregulation (e.g., distorted thoughts or dissociation)Make it stand out.
